  • What is Leadership Beaver County? What is Leadership Beaver County?

    Leadership Beaver County is a cohort-based program, with a maximum of twenty participants, designed for leaders whose primary residence or professional work is in Beaver County. Beginning in September 2024 and ending in May 2025, participants meet from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, usually on the third Thursday of each month.

    Outcomes for participants include:

    • Better understanding of the major institutions within Beaver County, and their mission and activities, as represented by those who lead them.
    • Increase in the capacity to lead effectively though the examination and application of leadership concepts and best practices.
    • Expanded opportunities to network among participants and session presenters. 

    Leadership Beaver County is a program designed for existing and emerging leaders within the County. Our goal is to educate up-and-coming leaders on the most important opportunities, challenges, and issues within the county and region in order to cultivate diverse and well-rounded leaders to carry our community forward.

    What can a class member expect? What can a class member expect?

    Cohort members participate in full-day sessions, once a month, from September through May from 8am-3pm. Throughout these sessions, participants learn about the major institutions in Beaver County (Education, Government, Healthcare, Industry, etc.) from those who lead them.  In addition, key leadership competencies are developed through the examination and application of related concepts, self-assessments, and experiences.  

    What is the application and acceptance process? What is the application and acceptance process?

    Interested applicants must submit a completed application, the additional required materials packet, and a $25 application fee.  These additional required materials include a letter of approval from your supervisor, two letters of recommendation, and the 200-250 word essay. The deadline for submission is July 31, 2024.  Application packets received after that date will be placed on a waiting list in the order received.

    Admission to Cohort VII obliges all members to attend the orientation evening, all nine monthly sessions, and the graduation ceremony.  Participants MUST discuss this expectation with their supervisors to make sure work-related responsibilities are planned accordingly so as not to miss any of the above sessions. Illness and personal emergencies are understandably unavoidable.  Should this occur, please make every effort to notify the Beaver County Chamber staff prior to the scheduled session.

    What is the tuition for enrollment of Leadership Beaver County? What is the tuition for enrollment of Leadership Beaver County?

    Tuition for this program is $1,500 per participant. Breakfast and lunch are served at all sessions. Tuition is due by September 2, 2024, unless other payment arrangements have been made with the approval of the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce President.  Should a member of Cohort VII withdraw after the first session in September, tuition is non-refundable.

    Are scholarships available? Are scholarships available?

    Yes, sponsorships are available. To qualify for a scholarship an applicant must be a Chamber member and must work full time with a non-profit organization, or a small business with 10 or less employees. To apply for a scholarship, follow the standard application process and check the box on Page 2 stating that you would like to be considered for a scholarship. Applicants wishing to be considered for a scholarship are still required to pay the $25 non-refundable application fee.
