Purpose and Mission
Leadership Beaver County is a cohort-based program, with a maximum of 20 participants, designed for existing and emerging leaders whose primary residence or professional work is in Beaver County. Each cohort meets from September through May, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, usually on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Sessions are held at various locations throughout Beaver County.
The Orientation Session will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. This one-day experience allows Cohort members to get to know one another and gain a deeper understanding of the Leadership Beaver County program. Attendance at this session is mandatory.
Outcomes for Cohort participants include:
- Better understanding of the major institutions within Beaver County, and their mission and activities, as represented by those who lead them.
- Recognition of the challenges and the outlook for growth and development of these institutions and other organizations within Beaver County.
- Increase in the capacity to lead effectively through the examination and application leadership concepts and best practices.
- Expanded opportunities to network with and establish relationships among participants and session presenters.
We accomplish this mission by organizing sessions around the following topics:

Pittsburgh International Race ComplexKick off your leadership journey with a dynamic and engaging introduction to the program. This orientation is held at The Pittsburgh International Race Complex and is designed to connect you with fellow participants, introduce key mentors and facilitators, and provide a clear roadmap of what to expect in the months ahead.

This special event marks the culmination of months of learning, collaboration, and transformation. Together, we’ll reflect on the journey, honor the milestones reached, and recognize the emerging leaders who are ready to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.

Program Director
Dr. Jim Dittmar has been a leader in the field of leadership development for over 40 years. He began his career as a high school teacher, coach, and principal before joining Geneva College, where he helped launch the Adult Degree Completion (ADP) Program.
He later founded the award-winning M.S. in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) Program, serving as director and department chair for 20 years. He also created the Geneva Leadership Institute and an annual national leadership conference. His contributions earned him Geneva’s “Excellence in Scholarship” award.
Dr. Dittmar has reviewed leadership and ethics texts, served on dissertation committees, and held positions on several nonprofit boards. He earned degrees from Geneva College, Slippery Rock University, and the University of Pittsburgh.
In 2014, he founded the 3Rivers Leadership Institute, where he serves as President and CEO. He is co-author of The Leadership Carol and The LEADERS Model, author of Against All Odds, and a contributor to Leadership Essentials and Servant Leadership in Action.
